Social Media Extortionist Gets 50 Years for Targeting Young Girls in Broward, Nationwide

first_imgA Miami federal judge has sentenced a Virginia man to 50 years behind bars, as well as a lifetime of probation, for using the internet to target and extort children through sexual exploitation around the country, including Broward County.Joseph Isaiah Woodson, Jr., was convicted last September of producing child pornography and sending threats to at least seven young girls, including three who live in Davie, Plantation, and Coral Springs.Between October 2017 and September 2018, the 30-year-old Woodson “persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced” several underage girls to engage in sexually explicit conduct using their cellphone cameras. He then recorded and shared those videos online, according to court documents.Woodson apparently earned the youths’ trust and received access to their Snapchat account credentials by pretending to be one of their friends. After getting their passwords, Woodson took over the victims’ Snapchat accounts and then demanded that they send him sexually explicit videos and images of themselves using the web-based texting application “KIK” if they wanted to regain control of their accounts.Investigators add that Woodson conspired with others to systematically extort and exploit the children online.“Joseph Isaiah Woodson, Jr. is a menace who preyed on the most vulnerable among us, children,” says George L. Piro, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Miami. “His sentence of 50 years in prison should serve as a warning to others involved in sextortion.”Sextortion has become so widespread that the FBI recently launched an awareness campaign in schools.last_img read more

Shaban Lubega: PML Daily Premier League team of the Week

first_img Tags: Pml daily team of the weektop De Gea made 11 saves against Spurs on Sunday (Photo by Agency)With Man City not in action until Monday, Liverpool moved back to 7 points clear at the top of the Premier League this past weekend, overcoming Brighton 1-0 thanks to a Muhammad Salah penalty. For Arsenal, they lost their 5th game of the season as they were out spotted 1-0 by West Ham. Declan Rice scored the only goal of the game after he was set-up by former Gunners midfielder, Samir Nasri. In the other side of London, Chelsea defeated Newcastle 2-1 at the Stamford Bridge to move only a point behind third placed Spurs. Pedro Rodriguez and Willian scored the goals for Mauriccio Sarri’s side while former Blue-Ciarran Clark was on target for the visitors. In the biggest match of the weekend, David De Gea produced a stunning display as Man United defeated Spurs 1-0 at Wembley. Marcus Rashford scored the winner in the first half on a day that De Gea made 11 saves.Elsewhere, Watford, Everton, Southampton and Burnely also registered wins over Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Leicester and Fulham respectively. Here are the IX players who stood-out for me in Game Week 17 (3:5:2 formation).GK: Davis De Gea (Man United).David de Gea made 11 saves in the win over Spurs – only against Arsenal in December 2017 has he made more in a Premier League match (14). This was also the highest number of saves he has made in a league game while also keeping a clean sheet.RB: Jan Bednarek (Southampton).Ten man Southampton exhibited a great deal of resilience to defeat Liecester 2-1 on Saturday. None of the players stood out for me like Bednarek especially after that miraculous goal-line clearance that virtually won the game for Rulf Hussenhutle’s side.CB: David Luiz (Chelsea). As well as providing a fantastic assist for Pedro’s opener for Chelsea, David Luiz made six clearances, two tackles and two interceptions in the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Newcastle.CB: Fabinho (Liverpool). After an erratic start to life at Liverpool, Fabinho is slowly growing into an important player for the Reds. Against Brighton, he produced another breath-taking performance at center-half.LB: Lucas Digne (Everton).Digne has been one of the stand-out performers of the last few weeks. On Sunday, he provided the assist that saw off Bournemouth at Goodison Park.MF: Harry Winks (Tottenham Hotspurs). His team may have lost 1-0 to Man United but Winks continues to prove he is the future for Spurs. He dominated a midfield full of seasoned performers like Pogba, Matic and Herrera, for the best part of the game.MF: Declan Rice (West Ham United).Declan Rice became the 10th teenager to score a Premier League goal for West Ham, and the first since Junior Stanislas in November 2009. The goal came in the 1-0 defeat of Arsenal on Saturday.MF: Pedro (Chelsea).Pedro has now scored three goals in his two Premier League starts against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge – against no other side in the competiton has the Spaniard netted more goals for Chelsea (3, level with Bournemouth).FW: Marcus Rashford (Man United).Man Utd’s Marcus Rashford has scored in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time in his career. Scored the winner on Sunday as United defeated Spurs 1-0.FW: Andre Schurrle (Fulham).André Schürrle’s opener against Burnley (01:49) is the quickest goal by a Fulham player in the Premier League since Clint Dempsey scored netted against Norwich City back in March 2012 (01:46).FW: Shane Long (Southampton).Long won a penalty and scored the winner as Southampton defeated Leicester 2-1 on Saturday.Comments last_img read more
