first_imgMONTEBELLO – A California Highway Patrol officer was struck and injured by a vehicle Thursday while writing a ticket on the side of a freeway in Montebello, a CHP officer said.The officer, a 49-year-old resident of Covina, was issuing a traffic citation to a motorist on the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway north of Floral Drive.Three vehicles collided on the freeway and one of the cars crossed two lanes and struck the officer’s patrol car, then continued up a grassy slope to where the officer was standing.The motorist receiving the citation was the first to assist the officer, who was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. He was listed in stable condition.The motorist who hit the officer was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
